Meet the Tutors

We are Audrey and Debbie. We have been crafting - and laughing - together for a couple of years now, teaching Powertex in Sheffield and the Doncaster area. We have now joined forces to bring our crafting activities online!

We have been certified by Powertex UK. Certified tutors bring you the guarantee that your workshop will be taught at the highest standard. We are regularly training with our fellow tutors on new products and new Powertex and Mixed Media techniques. We love to share what we do and what we come up with. Crafting and mixed media is in constant evolution and we like to explore and experiment!

During the pandemic, we have sorely missed the good times crafting with our lovely customers. We are delighted to be offering face to face workshops again, and we will continue to offer remote workshops.

We're looking forward to teaching you our love of mixed media and Powertex!

I was born in France, I grew up in the lovely city of Lyon, which is well known for its delicious food and lovely history.

In 2011, I moved to the UK and I haven't looked back since!

I was introduced to the world of crafts a decade ago by my stepsister, who is a seasoned scrapbooker and card-maker. Our sessions were usually punctuated with repeated occurrences of "no, you need to embellish more, Audrey". Well, she was right...(but please don't tell her!) Embellishments rock!

I dabbled with various crafts afterwards, until 2017, when I discovered mixed media and Powertex one Sunday, at Hobbycraft, where Debbie and her sister Joanne - aka the Powertex Sisters - were doing demonstrations. After seeing their work, I knew I wanted to try it.

I went to several of their classes, and took the leap in 2019 to become a Powertex certified tutor. I was trained by Debbie, and am now certified in Level 1 and 2. I teach Fabric Sculpting and Stone Art with Powertex, as well as other mixed media workshops and techniques. I created Crafty Moo in 2020 and launched the website early 2021.

I have a slight addiction to metallic colours, black Powertex and rice paper. They feature heavily in my projects as you'll soon discover!

When I'm not crafting, I work as a Project Manager in Sheffield, providing language solutions (mostly translation services) to customers who want to publish their content in various markets around the world.

I'm also quite fond of web and technical things, hence my role as the website manager here, to take care of both Debbie's and my own crafting activities online.

I am one half of the Powertex Sisters.

Joanne (my sister) and I started our Powertex Journey in 2015. I saw Tracey - who founded and manages Powertex UK - at the NEC.

I was hooked watching her demo all day. I was given the details of a local tutor and I booked myself, Joanne and our Mum in for classes, and that’s how it all started.

Joanne and I became tutors and we still love it after all these years.

Powertex is just so versatile: sculpting fabric, mixed media, clay... there is so much you can do!

We completed the Level One, which is a certification in Fabric Sculpting, within a few months of discovering Powertex. We called at Hobbycraft on the way home and started to demonstrate there the Sunday after. That's when Joanne and I created our Facebook page, Pipistrelle Studio's.  We did demos there for several years, almost every Sunday, until Covid-19 sadly put things on hold.

Over the 18 months following our first level certification, we completed the other levels and I am now starting work on my  Powertex Masters.

I enjoy many crafts, cake decorating, painting, resin work, crocheting and it's amazing how all my other crafts can be used with Powertex.

In 2019, the Pipistrelle Studio in Everton (Doncaster area) was completed, and I've been running workshops from there ever since. That same year, I became a stockist as well as a Tutor Trainer and I love teaching other enthusiastic like-minded crafters the skills to becoming tutors like myself.
